Today the Kenyan government has issued a circular to all the public schools that schools should be closed as from Monday due to the teacher's strike.
It's almost a month now since the teachers striked after the government failed to honour the court ruling that their salary increment should be approved.
The teachers vowed not to go back to schools until when money will be deposited to their account.
On other hand the government insisted that their is no money to pay the teachers. This has led to breakdowm of the public school. Some students had already gone back to school to read on their own until today when the government said that all schools should be closed.
Even though they have closed the schools, only Class 1-7 and form 1-3 will go home. Class 8 and form 4 who are expected to do their National examinations some months to come. The date for the start of KCPE and KCSE remain as planned.
