On Wed1.10.2015 TSC invited all qualified teachers willing to apply for job as teachers to do so. They announced 70,000 positions to fill the positions of the striking teachers for the three months they will be on strike.
This has happened after the court gave the striking teachers a period of 90 days to call off their strike and go back to schools as their leaders discuss with TSC about their pay. Even after the court ruling the teachers continued with their strike saying that even the government ignored the court ruling made before.
As all this drama continues the children are still at home except for the candidates who are preparing for their final examinations. K.C.S.E practicals have already commenced.
After hearing the TSC decision, KNUT has termed the decision to recruit 70,000 teachers as desperate and not within the law. However it has urged the teachers not to worry about that and their jobs are very secure. Wilson sossion has also asked all the teachers not to invigilate the coming national exams even if the government forces them to do so.
"Let all our branches across the country guide
teachers, heads and principals to ensure that
no Teacher supervises the National
examinations until they get instructions from
KNUT HQS. TEACHERS keep away from schools
or examination centers," said Wilson sossion the KNUT Secretary General.
