The 1st Eastern & Central Counties Agribusiness Investment Summit begins today with the official opening being done by our CS Water and Irrigation, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa who will also launch a County Government water project, Thuci Range at an initial cost of 70M.
We also expect HE the Deputy President William S. Ruto on Friday to close the event.
I joined on behalf of other County Government leaders take this opportunity to welcome our guests from all over Kenya and Beyond to Tharaka Nithi who will join us today for this important event.
This one-of-a-kind 3 Day summit will guarantee the presence of the region’s biggest buyers and leaders from the entire agribusiness sector, including among others; agriculture, livestock, poultry, fisheries, food processing machinery, manufacturing, packaging, agribusiness financing/ insurance and environmental resilience.
The theme of the event is: Transforming farmer organization through agribusiness as key economic drivers for county development.
The Summit covers thirteen counties in eastern and central Kenya which include:
Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, Meru, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Makueni Nyandarua, Kirinyaga and Laikipia.

There is an expected attendance of over 10,000 farmers and over 100 exhibitants from all the thirteen counties during the three-day event.
