COURT: Teachers Lose the 50-60 Salary Increase Appeal

The 50-60% salary increment that teachers were granted by the labour court has been nullified. This is after they filed an appeal in the court of appeal after the government said that they do not have money to pay them.

5 judges form the court of appeal said that the labour court had no powers to award the teachers with the pay increase. They also said that the court should have considered the salaries and remuneration role since it is established under the constitution.

They also had no powers to listen to a proceeding between the teachers unions and TCS.

However the teachers have said that they will file for an appeal in the supreme court.
